“Mini buses: Maximum wonders!”

The latest addition to the city’s transportation facility is the mini bus. People from all walks of life were delighted after its introduction! So I decided try and hope on-board once to check them out and I definitely not disappointed!

After a tiring day’s work, catching a bus in the peak hour is luck in itself. If one is even luckier, they might get a seat squeezing their way into the crowd. Here a push, there a jostle and some crush, the evening ride back home in my bus routine has it all. At the end of this strenuous ride back home, one gets completely exhausted with no energy left to trudge back home. Even if we have some energy left, the walk back can be really long that we sometimes wish for a lift till the doorstep. Mini buses are a big boon for all those who live quite far from the bus stop, or whose residence is at a remote location from the main roads.

When the sun goes down, auto fares in Chennai shoot up! The moment it turns dark, drivers demand double fares even for a short distance. In sub-urban Chennai, most autos do not use the metre despite mandatory instructions, citing that within-the-neighbourhood rides are a meager distance for metres!
If you’re wondering why haven’t spoken about the share-auto services, it is because of their irrational routes and frequency. They choose to ply the route that has maximum users and takes minimum time to complete a toad n fro trip. Since riding inside a neighbourhood does not include either of these two options, people like us are void of those services till doorstep.

For those who work a night shift, a safe ride from doorstep to the main road or vice versa is a big concern. These Mini Bus services are made available in those uncommon hours in neighbourhoods that are scarcely connected with transportation. In my neighbourhood of Velachery and Nanganallur, they are a big hit!

My personal trial with these little angels happened last night when I was returning from work. After getting down at the main road at 10 P.M, my eyes wandered through for an auto. Before I could bargain with the driver, this swanky new vehicle came to my rescue. With a fare as low as Rs. 5 and a comfortable seating, this was more than what a tired worker can ask for. Especially, these services are like body guards for women like me who return home late. To my delight, I hopped down in front of my house and a waved a bye to the bus driver! It will be great if MTC can increase their frequency and make them available at all times of the day! Mini buses review in minimum: Cheap, timely, most useful service ever! Good Night folks!
